Friars Court
is licensed to host Civil Weddings and is an ideal location for a Civil
Ceremony with, or without, a wedding reception. A hire price list (correct as
of 1st September 2007) can be found by clicking here.
At This
flexibility also extends to suppliers. We know how important it is to save
valuable time, trouble and expense and we have a long list of trusted
suppliers who have worked here in the past (or who have come highly
recommended). However, clients are also welcome to use their own contacts. So
while we can suggest florists, marquee-hire companies, caterers or even pianists,
clients are always free to use their own contacts or friends. This way we
hope that clients can arrange exactly the sort of day that they want. And, of
course, we are available to help ensure that everything runs as smoothly as
possible. There are
nine areas licensed for Civil Ceremonies; 6 inside and 3 outside (we are one
of the few venues in Oxfordshire where it is possible to get married
outside). These include; the sumptuous Red Dining Room (maximum 20 guests),
the glazed roofed Garden Room (maximum 80 guests), the rustic, but spacious,
Stone Barn (maximum 100 guests), the
Gothic Front Porch with the façade of the house acting as the backdrop to
your ceremony or the thatched Rose Arbour by the Moat (numbers unlimited). As a venue
for a small wedding reception, our Garden Room seats up to 30 guests
comfortably and a buffet or sit-down meal can be included. For a larger, more
informal event, up 50 guests can be accommodated with perhaps a buffet to
follow. For larger parties of up to 150 guests a marquee would be required. Between
April and September our large, rustic, Cotswold Stone Barn is available for
the casual reception, with enough space to accommodate 80 guests for a sit
down meal or up to 120 guests for an evening party. It already has a stage,
ideal for a band or disco, and has plenty of space for dancing, a bar or
buffet, be it pig roast, barbecue or even a fish and chip van! Aside from
the tranquillity that the grounds of this historic house can offer, we can
also ensure that each booking has complete, private and exclusive access to
the facilities and the four acres of partially moated grounds. Whilst we welcome
preview visits to our rooms and grounds at most times, please understand that
Friars Court is a privately owned family home so we ask that all pre-view or
appointments are always made beforehand by telephone. For further
information and photographs please click on the link below to visit the 'Silver Pear Weddings'
