The land to the south of the house is bordered by a mile-long stretch of the River Thames and water has always been an attraction for wildlife as well as leisure. Two meadows by the river are now caravan sites, one is a Caravan Club certified location (CL) located on a 4 acre island on the Thames and is licensed for up to 5 vans whilst the other is a Rally Field, inter-planted with cricket bat willow trees, for up to 60 caravans. Both fields have access to basic amenities of water, litter and sanitation point.
The CL and Rally Field are open from late spring until the autumn and coarse fishing is permitted from the 16th of June. Anglers should take note that in addition to the National Rod license they also need a local license. The sites are looked after by a resident manager during the summer months.
On the north bank of the CL is an old backwater which has been dredged and is now used as permanent mooring for over 30 boats. For more information about booking a pitch on the caravan site or moorings please contact Charles Willmer.
