Group Visit Types

Friars Court is open for pre-booked group visits from Spring until the Autumn, minimum of 20, maximum of 54 guests. 'Open by arrangement only' ensures exclusivity and privacy for the group for the duration of their visit.

In addition to enjoying the tranquillity of the gardens all group visits include a guided tour of the grounds. Lead by Charles Willmer, he will describe aspects of the history of the house and gardens and explain, with anecdotes, the development of his historic family home and the farmland around. Areas of interest include the Moat Ponds, the Winterhaulter Rose Garden, the Garden of Reflection and the Alternative Energy Area where visitors can see the banks of solar cells which provide electricity to the house and farm.

The tour takes approximately 1 hour, covers a distance of about ¼ of a mile and is suitable for wheelchair users.

Instead of, or after the tour, visitors may wander at leisure or relax in the comfortable armchairs in the Old Laundry or on one of the many benches dotted around the grounds. Information boards are located at 16 key points of interest

When booking a visit a group’s Organiser may take one of the following options:

1) Escorted Gardens only

£5.00 per person

2) Escorted Gardens with Tea & Coffee & Home-made Biscuits:

£7.00 per person

3) Escorted Gardens with an Afternoon Cream Tea:

£10.00 per person

(Home-made scones, jam & cream, tea & coffee)

4) Escorted Gardens with an Afternoon High Tea:

£12.00 per person

(Selection of sandwiches, home-made scones, jam & cream, home-made cake and biscuits, tea & coffee)

5) Escorted Gardens with a Home-made Soup Lunch or Supper:
